Re the need to be more efficient in WT's work on the media, expressed by
Sascha Brawer and Michael Brawer, after the 2nd Bund article on FOSS and the
administration of Bern:
It's not only the media. When I posted at the Forum New Learning about the
"expert" decision to adopt WebCT for the platform of the Swiss Virtual
Campus, I got exactly the same response from the manager of the FNL: with
Open Source the creator may stop abruptly developping the product etc. But
after a while he remembered that a developper of OLAT (the non proprietary
platform software of the Zurich university) is also a member of FNL and he
invited him to tell his point of view.
The developper did, in very clear, simple language. So it's also at this
academic level, or at the level of "experts of ICT policy", that we should
be doing the information. Who was the author of the second article? I mean
what does s/he do? Does s/he have any function-reinforced clout in
opinion-making ? (a prof, an "expert d'informatique", whatever of the kind).
Cheers
Claude
