New Swedish Feasibility Study Sees Benefits of Open Source for Public Sector

A new feasibility study conducted by the Swedish Agency for Public Management
(Statskontoret) finds Open Source software solutions "equivalent to -- or
better than -- commercial products" for public sector applications. The
comprehensive study supports claims that Open Source software, along with
open standards and formats, lays the groundwork for improved interoperability
and cost reductions. The study addresses business models and legalities, and
concludes with general recommendations for working with Open Source software.
