I actually got this from Stéphane Magnenat through the PLLA mailing list -
didn't PLLA merge with Wilhelm Tux? Anyway, it is not important. The
petition below is, as far as I can understand.

Good night

Hello

=======================================================
This is important. The legal department of the European Parlement has
decided that unlimited patenting is going to be allowed on software. This
is a killer for the opensource community and will most likely mean the end
of a lot of smaller software companies. Apparently the European Parlement
did not learn the first thing about the current situation in the US, and it
is very likely that these plans will become reality. This will also mean
that monopolists such as Microsoft will gain even more power and that all
alternatives can actually be ruled out. Therefore, I would appreciate it
a lot if you signed this petition on
