1:

Open Standards

Specifications for hardware and/or software that are publicly available.
Open standards imply that multiple vendors can compete directly based on
the features and performance of their products. It also implies that the
existing open system can be removed and replaced with that of another
vendor with minimal effort and without major interruption. Contrast with
proprietary standards

s ]. See open system
[http://www.techweb.com/encyclopedia/defineterm?term=opensystem ] and
open source

A bit short, I know, but clear. As to the links, they could be cut or
replaced with others within the site if you have your won definitions

* Even shorter:

Open: ... 3. Non-proprietary. An open standard
[http://foldoc.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?standard is one which can
be used without payment.

=2 is a long list of computer glossaries and dictionaries. But not all
are good.

Cheers

[wilhelmtux-discussion] Begriffsdefinition "Offener Standard"

Hallo Leute

Ich suche für unsere Website noch eine Definition für den Begriff
"Offener Standard". Kurz und gut, so ca. 3 Absätze à ca. 300-400
Zeichen.

Kennt da jemand etwas oder kann evtl. selber etwas schreiben?

lg & tia /markus
