OK - I agree with your tactical reasons for not mentioning action
proposals. But if the list should agree on the logo suggestion, then
some media people will have to be told, at least shortly beforehand,
won't they?

Besides, when the first notice of the logo appeared on the list, before
you put up your suggestions for action, I did mention the advertisements
to quite a few people. And your own enquiring "not as Wilhelm Tux" may
have made people aware of a certain, huh, disconfort created by the
"partnership".

Their refusal to tell you about the counterpart for the ads is open to
two interpretations:

- there's indeed murky business afoot
- they got nothing, or only ridiculous "benefits" in change, and are
ashamed to 'fess up.

We could save a screenshot of the obnoxious page, I suppose.

Cheers

Claude

Not a good idea. We have checked the attitude of the parliament
officials (without mentioning WT). They say that they don't see a
problem with having advertisements on their web page. However, they are
not willing to tell us what kind of compensation they get for this. This
means that there might be more behind this than we think.

Before we have made up our minds about what to do, we should not carry
this discussion outside this mailing list. The worst thing that could
happen is that they quietly take the ads off the page. Then we have
nothing and we can't even prove that it was there.

Therefore: make plans first, then act!

Kind regards,

Dietrich

PS: Ich checked the lighting conditions at the Bundeshaus tonight. The
largest part of the building is not illuminated directly. That means
that projecting a M$ logo on the front of the building would certainly
be possible with a good slide projector.
