help the poor, orphans, the needy, HIV/AIDS victims in Africa will be

ABSTRACT
The coming of Michel Pauli from Switzerland to Cameroon was a dream and
hope come true for the above mentioned children as he was a sincere
advocate for solidarity. Things turned out to be a night mare for him
and the zealous and ambitious students who missed his solidarity gesture
for the suffering people as a result of the unkindness and greediness of
persons who frustrated the aims and prime objectives of the LTSP project
in Cameroon. Hope is however not lost.
A few broad minded students informed the management of Diligent Computer
Institute of the philanthropic Programme of the LSTP project by Pauli
Michel from Switzerland aimed at helping in the training of Cameroonians
in the area of new information technology using the Linux Terminal Server.
This dream was not achieved as the administration tried contacting the
facilitator from Switzerland when he had left the country. In the light
of this, the administration and students of Diligent Computer Institute
solicit the kindness of Michel Pauli (for the LTSP project) to return to
Cameroon to continue with the project of solidarity. It will be highly
appreciated and most welcomed.
SUSTAINABILITY
Two competent computer instructors will be engaged to teach Word
Processing, Data Processing and Hardware Maintenance Internet Explorer
which correctly are the most used applications in the Cameroonian
Society. These are the basic programmes that the trainees can use to
acquire jobs upon completion of their course work.
Introducing the Linux Terminal Sever Project and a new curriculum for
the students will give them a wider knowledge and will be able to work
internationally. This Programme will be an asset to the students.
Instead of between 10,000frs to 15,000frs (ten to fifteen thousand
francs CFA) charged per student per month per students in studying
computer sciences here in Bamenda, NWP, Diligent Computer Institute
solicits a monthly contribution of 3,500frs (three thousand five hundred
francs CFA) per student per month for maintenance of computers,
electricity/water bills and for First Aid to the students. In this way,
sustainability is guaranteed.
Brilliants sincere and faithful students (two per batch) upon completion
of their course in the institute will be engaged to start up a different
branch of the institute in another community were they do not have
access to computers/internet facilities for training; for a down to
earth contribution for maintenance of computers and its accessories.
The management of the institute will solicit assistance
(material/equipments, facilitators/volunteers) from donor countries to
carry on the exercise.
One student trained in the Hardware department will be employed to pilot
all the training centers to repair computers having problems.
SUPERVISION
The immediate supervision will be the Director of Diligent Computer
Institute
Daily supervision of the project will be the manager/branch manager(s)
of the Institute.
The school(s) administrator(s) will submit two reports every month for
the day to day running of the institution to the General Coordinator of
the Institute.
The Director of the school will send quarterly reports to the funding
bodies or donors for their appraisal.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Information Technology at your door step by Diligent Computer Institute
is an initiative intended to put at the disposal of the rural population
of Mulang Community in Mezam Division, a Computer Literacy Centre, which
is very imperative for the majority of the suffering community, at a
down to earth cost.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of Diligent Computer Institute in creating a computer
school in this rural community is:
To provide marketable computer literacy skills to pupils who have
completed class seven or six as well as secondary school dropouts.
To alleviate poverty by training Orphans, HIV/AIDS infected or affected
persons, the needy and the street children. This training will give them
skills to acquire a job or be self employed. This will in effect raise
standards of living.
To help single parent females to acquire basic computer skills that can
help them find jobs or self employed, thus boosting morals and living
standards.
Provide secondary schools students and undergraduates with computer
literacy skills which could either help them in some of the subjects on
their curriculum. Their services at the end of the course will be highly
needed in offices, for personal research, and in commercial documentations.
Offer cheap internet services to the rural population at affordable
cost. This will solve the problem of time and cost in sending or
receiving through electronic mails or e-fax.
TARGETED GROUP (BENEFICIARIES)
The immediate beneficiaries of this project will be the young, old,
orphans, students, pupils and the rural community of Mulang as whole.
The employed instructors will also benefit in the project as their
standards of living will improve from their monthly enumerations.
The training institution will be a facet for the nearby villagers as
their children will benefit from this solidarity gesture and training.
An extension of the project to the nearby communities will immensely be
of benefit to them.
DIFFICULTIES
Lack of good computers and its accessories is a handicap for the
sustainability of this project.
Limited to pay well trained teachers in this field of information
technology.
No trainer has been engaged for the LTSP (Linux Terminal Server).
Lack sponsors.
