Hello Everybody,

Its been almost some few weeks that we have been in contact, with the
people in cameroon. We have carefully looked through their profiles and
come to conclude that we would soon start in cameroon.

In details we have contacted the (BUST) University in Cameroon &
Computer Planet of Bamenda , ready to enguage in a non profit making
activity , with the aime of the population to gain from the new
technology. They have already presented a proposed plan and site which
is suitable for the project. The (BUST) is a new university in Cameroon
run by the Computer Planet.Presently there are about 150 students ready
to aquire our new technology. We already have pictures to demostrate to
this effect. The proprietor is ready to offer a lab for the
project, manpower to help install the materials, security of the
computers. In as much as energy still remains a strong problem to this
project, we would ask everyschool to carry part of the Cost, in retun
for our services. For the main time bc we are still in need of funds to
start.

The next school is in the Northwest province is run by a Priest. The
School is actually a center where people who are unemployed meet to get
training given by a Non-profit Organisation. This Organisation is
registered Internationally and recognised by the Cameroon constitution
as non profit making. The School is situated in Fundong, just some few
Kilo Meters away from Bamenda. After mailing and talking with the Project
-Co-ordinature in cameroon we learnt that with his recognition goods
wouldnt pay any custom duty.Presently he has about 60 young people in
the camp but more than 250 would be ready by January to Learn Linux, and
other alternative Proffessions which can enable them to sustain their
Lives in Cameroon personally or in the Job Markets. He has as well
presented to us his ownside of the whole project and plan of actions
needed in future if we bring this project to Cameroon. We have alot of
pictures to show what concreatly we are talking about, but we then
decided to make a link with the web-page of revampit, for all to see.We
appologise for the delay but soon the pictures would be read for all to see.

There are more schools in Cameroon ready to enguage in the project, but
for the moment we have more details just about this two,but more might
be in the future.

from Bust University and computer planet we recieve following mail
   COMPUTER PLANET

A - Introducing Computer Planet
Computer Planet was created in November 2001 with the following aims:
1 - To bring Information Technology to the local and under priviledged
communittees
2 - To improve women empowerment through FREE IT training.
3 - To equipe young students who are mostly graduates from Technical and
Vocational Schools with computer knowledge
4 - To provide access to computers and internet to local communities at
almost no cost.

In the years 2002 till early 2004, we succeeded in accomplishing our
aims to near eighty percent. After early 2004, some of our sponsors who
were mainly local indigens could not longer bare the heavy cost of
paying for the internet connection, replacing the aging computers which
were pentium 1 and other overhead cost. For this reason we had to levy a
fee on the students who came for training. Being a poor communittee,
very few parents could afford to pay the fees as such the enrollement
reduced.
With this drop in enrollement, we could not stay back seeing most
graduates from secondary school roaming the streets, or contineousely
sending students away from the center because of fees as such we had to
sell out our VSAT inorder to raise money to mend our computers and pay
our overheads.

B: COMPUTER PLANET today.
After overcoming most of the odds of the early 2004 era, we presently
train students on Computer Software Operations, Computer Hardware
Maintenance and Assembly, Computer Networking and we also prepare
students for Certification Exams (since we do not have a prometric
center). All of these are possible thanks to personal efforts from the
staff as we do not have real equipment to carry out expert
demonstrations ( Computers, Internet, Books, study guides etc) . We are
still using some of the pentium1 computers that we started with some
4years ago and which we got them fairly used. The software programs the
students study are basically Microsoft and an introduction to Linux
(since we do not have complete Linux training guides and experts)

C: The DREAMS of COMPUTER PLANET
We have a goal and we are determine to make our local communittees to be
part of the global village by making them computer literate. We intend
to bridge the widening gap between the rich and the poor by equiping the
poor with IT knowledge something which the rich do not have time to
study but they need it to mmeet up with the changes in the global
village. This way the rich shall have a reason to employ the poor but
computer literate population to help them implement computers in their
offices, industries and companies.
We shall be pleased to welcome any sponsore who shall make our dream
come true. Our local communittees are mostly incline to using Microsoft
products because it was first introduced to them and till now we do not
have real Linux experts around. From all indication, they shall more
than welcome a new way of doing things with programs from Linux
especially if they shall once more have the opportunity of studying
almost free, hookup to the internet and have programs to install at
almost no cost. With these, our younger ones from school shall become
ready for the job market or even crteate jobs from the knowledge they
shall get after the training.
