Hi Felix,
Of course there is no question of buying things when there is no funding.
However the project needs funding in any case and the actual hardware only
represents part of the total costs.

I would think that it soon will be easy to get used laptops. I have two or
three I could donate myself. They are also easy to send by mail. The savings
in electricity are great. The biggest problem is that they cannot be easily
altered and even just adding more memory costs too much.

I agree. But please don't make the same mistake that people in Switzerland
make when project planners completely forget about energy costs simply
because it is a different account. It is no service to people in Africa if
they get a device free which costs a lot of electricity. Mainly we have to
identify the uses where the devices are in constant use and those where the
use is short.
